Playlist: Bob Dylan In 1960s London

The NEW London Music Tour The Beatles & Bob Dylan In 1960s London goes out for its world premiere on Saturday 9th November 2019.

Our tour goes in search of the two most influential, most important acts of the decade.
Where they led, EVERYONE followed.

As well as following in their, we'll also take a look at how London has changed from the post-war period of the Pop Culture explosion to the 21st Century.

We'll cover the hopeful winter of 1962-63, the optimism of success in 1964, thence in to the uncharted territory of ’65-’66 and the birth of Pop Culture.

The first stop on the tour is The Royal Festival Hall, where Dylan's first major UK gig took place on 17th May 1964.

As a little bit of background, what were we listening to as a nation when Dylan landed at London Airport? Here's the UK top 10 for 14th May 1964…

It's a ballad-heavy chart with 3 Liverpool groups, 1 from Manchester, the ubiquitous Lennon & McCartney, Jim Reeves' last hit before his death, The Big O, Cliff still hanging in there and the joyful ska of Millie's My Boy Lollipop…

As for his own gig… on the night, his setlist was as follows…

The Times They Are A-Changin’
Girl from the North Country
Who Killed Davey Moore?
Talkin’ John Birch Paranoid Blues
Ballad of Hollis Brown
It Ain’t Me, Babe
Walls of Red Wing
Chimes of Freedom
Mr. Tambourine Man
Eternal Circle
A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall
Talkin’ World War III Blues
Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right
Only a Pawn in Their Game
With God on Our Side
The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll
Restless Farewell
When the Ship Comes in

Over the next few days I'll be posting a few more bits of background reading & playlists. In the meantime, you can book for the tour here…
